Tsavorite is the vivid green variety of grossular garnet, prized for its exceptional color, brilliance, and rarity. Unlike emerald, however, tsavorite typically exhibits higher transparency and brilliance due to its superior crystal clarity.

As a member of the garnet group, tsavorite crystallizes in the cubic crystal system, allowing it to remain optically isotropic and display excellent light return. Gem-quality stones typically possess a vitreous luster with transparent clarity and a refractive index of approximately 1.74, contributing to their lively brilliance and sparkle.
