Chemically composed of lithium aluminum silicate (LiAl(SiO₃)₂), kunzite crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system and belongs to the silicate mineral group. In transparent gem-quality specimens, it typically displays a vitreous luster with high clarity.
The refractive index of kunzite generally ranges from approximately 1.66 to 1.68, contributing to a lively brilliance with noticeable light return.
